Design Is In My DNA

I’m asked over and over again about how I first became interested in design. From a very early age – I’d actually say about 5 years old, I began to understand and really be aware of my surroundings. I was aware of color, space and scale. Regardless of where I was, I found myself redesigning and redecorating. I’m sure my parents, friends and family members had no idea how many times I had redone their homes. If the space was off, I knew it – I felt it.

Charlene Keogh, Keogh Design, New York City, speaks to why she's in the interior design business and love it so very much. It's in her DNA as she outlines in this video clip. Here she speaks about her early need to tweak design and redesign spaces in her mind

No matter where I am, I’m in redesign mode. My mind immediately senses what may be ‘off’ and it begins to fix it so to speak. I’ve always said I was born knowing what I wanted to do. Whether I’m sitting in a waiting room or just walking down the streets of Manhattan, I’m designing.
